Who am I?
I have quite a few hobbies that I would like to share. I figure presenting myself as more than just a resume would show that there is more to me than my accomplishments.
Rock Climbing
I started rock climbing this year, and I instantly fell in love with it. I’ve included my favourite picture to show people when I tell them about this, because it makes it seem extra scary for those afraid of heights. This photo was taken from the bottom of the 100-meter rock face at Bon Echo Provincial Park. In the yellow helmet is me, and in the red, much higher up, is my girlfriend, who introduced me to the sport. What I enjoy most about climbing is that it feels like a high-stakes puzzle, which requires strength and courage to solve. The feeling of being stuck, hundreds of feet up, not knowing where your next hand placement is going to be, knowing any miscalculation will result in you swinging on the rope has to be one of the most thrilling things I have experienced.
Snowboarding
If it was not obvious by now, I am a bit of an “adrenaline junkie”, which leads me to my next hobby. I love snowboarding and have been going down hills and mountains since I was three years old. Growing up (and to this day I should add), my dad has been a ski-patroller at various local resorts. I would go with him for his shifts, along with my siblings, and it became a staple activity in my life. I’ve included one of my favourite pictures, which is of me and my little sister at Blue Mountain together.
Fitness
One thing that I value extremely is my health and fitness. I have been working out for the past 5 years, and find it to be one of the most rewarding hobbies I could imagine. The gym has given discipline a new meaning to me, and I hope that it will grant me access to a long, healthy, and active future. I figured I would include a gym selfie to go along with this one.
Music
Ever since high school I have been passionate about writing and recording music, and have had some interesting opportunities arise from this interest. The most notable, arose when an Australian dubstep producer, Neotek, reached out to me saying that he loved my voice and wanted to work on a song together. Together, we wrote a song titled “Forget You”, which I have attached here. What makes this song special in particular, is that it resulted in us signing a record deal with Broke Records. Through this deal, we partnered with the American music promoter, Trap Nation, and featured on their YouTube channel (30+ million subscribers), amassing 100,000+ views from YouTube alone.
